  • Striebig makes an art of packing case production

    Specialist fine art forwarder Williams & Hill has bought two Striebig Compact vertical panel saws for its newly-opened warehouse near London’s Heathrow Airport.

    The saws cut a variety of sheet materials, including plywood, OSB and Tri-Wall high performance corrugated board, needed for the construction of bespoke packing cases, plus foam and polystyrene used to line the interiors if required.

    They join a Striebig Econom II model which was purchased shortly after the business was formed in 2002.  

  • Seventh SCM CNC and edgebander ordered by Solidor

    SCM Group UK has just received its seventh order for an SCM CNC machining centre from leading composite door manufacturer Solidor, along with an order for a Stefani Solution HD single-sided edgebander with PUR gluing.

    Having installed an SCM Accord 20FX machine last November alongside five SCM Record/Actionline CNC machines, Solidor realised it required even more machining capacity as weekly production of 1000 doors was soon to become a reality.

  • Increased production with machines from Felder

    Based in Crewe, Smallwood Manufacturing designs and manufactures cupboards and furniture for schools, opticians and pharmacies. Catering for a variety of customers, it is currently working on jobs for an optician’s and furniture for salons. 

    Peter Livesey, manager at Smallwood, says that the school summer holidays is always the busiest time of year, as it has a large customer base supplying furniture to schools. It is the time of year when schools get things ready before term time, which means that Smallwood’s schedule becomes very busy.

  • Company delighted about money savings from wood waste heater

    A building contractor and bespoke joinery company is celebrating how much money it is saving since it purchased a wood waste heater from Wood Waste Technology.

    London-based MP Brothers has been operating since 1974. Every year, the company had to hire gas heaters to heat its 10,000 sq ft factory throughout the cold winter months. Whilst the heaters were necessary to keep its 12 employees in the workshop warm, they were costly to run, so the management at MP Brothers started to look at alternative heating solutions.
